1. Shower
    • It always amazes me how refreshing a shower feels, even if I am not having a good day.
    • If I’m too tired, I just bring a stool to sit on in the shower.
    • Having a hot shower helps my muscles to relax.
    • Feeling clean improves my mood even when I’m having a bad day.
  2. Eat
    • Healthier food is always better, especially for individuals with mental health/chronic illness/pain issues. However, sometimes it’s not always possible so remembering to eat anything is much better than not eating anything.
    • Eating simple things that don’t need planning such as crackers.
    • Ordering out food works as well for a lazy day when you can’t do much
    • Eating anything can make your body feel better and get more energy to complete normal mundane tasks.
  3. Drink
    • Drink water!!!!!
    • Drinking water is very important and can improve your mood in seconds.
    • Sometimes water just is not enough so I actually drink Powerade or Real Brewed Iced Tea. This may not be the healthiest option but it gives me a boost of energy to complete some chores or homework
    • Hydration is so important for the body.
  4. Exercise
    • I know it sometimes seems like a daunting task to exercise when not feeling the greatest but there are so many benefits from exercising.
    • Even just doing two or three simple stretches can improve your mood a ton.
    • If you feel up to it, you can also do some push-ups, sit-ups, or running/jogging. I like to walk/run up and down the stairs in my residence building to get some exercise and to become more energized.
  5. Massage/heating pads
    • I love getting massages, they reduce my chronic cervical (neck/shoulder/back) pain.
    • Getting massages can be quite expensive so another option is to use heating pads.
    • Getting massages relaxes me and forces me to spend time in my own brain that I am desperately trying to avoid.
    • Relaxing my body helps my brain to relax which is something I have a difficult time doing.
